OSHA chief David Michaels, in testimony Thursday (Dec. 11) before a joint hearing of the Senate labor and environment committees to oversee agencies' roll-out of President Obama's executive order addressing chemical plant safety, told lawmakers that OSHA along with interagency cooperative actions is independently focused on several areas: possible revisions to the process safety management standard; further rules to protect workers from major chemical accidents; National Emphasis Programs; safety standards for emergency responders; and ammonium nitrate safety actions.
